Tokyo Disney Resort / Tokyo Disneyland
Tokyo Disneyland is a 115-acre theme park at the Tokyo Disney Resort. The resort and parks are located in Urayasu, Chiba Prefecture, Japan, near Tokyo. Its main gate is directly adjacent to both Maihama Station and Tokyo Disneyland Station. It was the first Disney Resort to be built outside the United States, and it opened on 15 April 1983. The park was constructed by WED Enterprises in the same style as Magic Kingdom in Florida and Disneyland in California. It is owned by The Oriental Land Company, which licenses the theme from The Walt Disney Company. Disneyland and its companion park, Tokyo DisneySea which make up the Tokyo Disney Resort, are the only Disney parks not wholly or partly owned by the Walt Disney Company.
Tokyo DisneySea is a 176-acre theme park at the Tokyo Disney Resort. It opened on 4 September 2001. The park attracted an estimated 13.46 million visitors in 2016, making it the fifth-most-visited theme park in the world. It was the second theme park to open at the Tokyo Disney Resort and the ninth park of the twelve worldwide Disney theme parks to open. Tokyo DisneySea was the fastest theme park in the world to reach the milestone of 10 million guests, having done so in 307 days after its grand opening.
